Rest Easy with Proven Foaling Prediction.
The FoalWatch system uses trusted chemistry to help predict foaling with confidence. By measuring calcium levels in the mare’s colostrum, FoalWatch signals when birth is near—typically when calcium consistently exceeds 200 ppm. Begin testing 1–2 times daily about two weeks before the expected foaling date to eliminate nightly guesswork.
Simple, Safe, and Complete.
No special training required—FoalWatch is easy to use and gentle for your mare. Each kit includes everything needed for 20 tests:

Confidently Predict Foaling with FoalWatch
FoalWatch helps breeders anticipate foaling with precision by measuring calcium levels in mare's colostrum. As calcium rises sharply prior to birth, this reliable, chemistry-based kit offers a safe and easy way to monitor changes and reduce the stress of nightly foal checks.
Start testing 10–14 days before the expected foaling date (typically days 335–340 of gestation), or when udder enlargement is visible.
- Begin daily testing until calcium exceeds 100 ppm
- Switch to twice daily testing once levels reach 125 ppm
- When calcium hits 200 ppm, ~50% of mares will foal within 24 hours
- Levels between 300–500 ppm strongly indicate birth is imminent
Simple 4-Step Test Procedure:
STEP 1: Mix 1.5 ml of mare’s milk with distilled water and indicator solution in the sample cup.
STEP 2: Snap the tip of the Titret ampoule and immerse it in the sample.
STEP 3: Draw and mix until the color changes from orange to blue.
STEP 4: Invert and read the calcium level directly from the ampoule scale.
Fast, Accurate, and Easy to Use
- Each ampoule contains vacuum-sealed titrant for rapid, mess-free testing. Reverse titration ensures accuracy without lab equipment. Results appear in just minutes.
Important Considerations:
- Safe for mare and foal: testing doesn’t affect colostrum supply or antibody content
- Always clean and dry the udder before sampling to minimize infection risk
- Exposure to contaminated fescue or use of domperidone may impact calcium readings
- FoalWatch is a foaling aid and should supplement—not replace—veterinary care
